Farm Activities
There's plenty of things to do on the farm and something for everyone. We like to think of it as a great day out, and the kind of place we'd come for fun if we weren't already here. Throughout the seasons we have different events for people of all ages and stages.
Pick-Your-Own Fruit
From May to October we're harvesting a range of crops and we invite you to come and experience the pleasures of the farm in such a beatiful setting. Please see our PYO Page for the scedule of when the different crops are ripe and ready for your visit.
Kitchen, Kids Play Area
Our kitchen prepares food to order and has a good range of items popular with folks of all ages and stages. The relaxed setting with tables and chairs and picknic benches allows families to relax while they keep an eye on their kids in the adjacent play with its swings, slides and climbing frames.
The Goat Walk
For several years now, visitors to the farm have had the pleasure of watching the daring exploits of our skywalking goats. They make the trek up and over a long wooden bridge, crossing the road to visit the pulley feeder system which kids love to operate.
Nearby Attractions in the Northern Neck
The Northern Neck is the area of Virginia bounded by the Potomac and Rappahannock Rivers and the Chesapeake Bay. It is a rural, history-laden peninsula settled by the English in the mid-17th century. The nearest city is Fredricksburg with its 40-block Historic District, made up of more than 350 buildings dating to the 18th and 19th centuries. This district has a charming 'main street' shopping area where time seems to have stood still with a range of unique stores including plenty of antique shops and even a drug store with a real soda fountain. There is also the Fredericksburg Area Museum and Cultural Center which has permanent exhibitions on a range of topics, including the local pre-colonial Native Amercians.
The George Washington Birthplace National Monument
Originally settled by John Washington, George Washington's great-grandfather, George Washington was born here on February 22, 1732. It is just 15 minutes away. See this National Park Service web page for details.
The Ancestral Home of the Lee's of Virginia
Just 20 minutes South on Rt. 3 is Stratford Hall Plantation, the home of four generations of the Lee family of Virginia, including two signers of the Declaration of Independence. It was also the birthplace of Robert Edward Lee (1807-70), who became the Confederate General-in-chief during the American Civil War.
Come and visit Westmoreland Berry Farm for a special day out. We hope to see you soon.
